Dori Darby
Ms. Dori began cultivating her dance training at the young age of 3 and her piano training at the age of 4. Music and Dance are a part of her. By age nine, she had performed in many local stage productions in her hometown of Huntsville, AL and she had become an award-winning competitive dancer. She has had the fortune to train under many nationally known choreographers. Ms. Dori has danced in several states as an Ann Brown Company Dancer performing in Georgia, Alabama and Louisiana. The performing company had a once in a lifetime opportunity to perform at the World’s Fair in 1984. These opportunities inspired Ms. Dori to continue her studies and to open her creative mind to the work of dance and music. She has taught classes in Alabama, Georgia, and Kentucky before opening her studio here in the Sandhills in the fall of 2001. Ms. Dori has taught dance at the Sandhills Theatre Arts Renaissance School and dance and The Music Class at First Health’s Child Development Center in our community as well.
Continuous personal development, a topic Ms. Dori feels is very important, helps each person to strive for more in every aspect of their lives. This has also led Ms. Dori to find more creative programs for young children. She teaches “The Music Class” a nationally renowned program of creative music for children aged birth to 5 years old. She also believes that children as young as 2.5 can begin to learn dance movements. She enjoys teaching in small groups with her tiny tots classes. She continues to further her dance education at seminars throughout the year with nationally acclaimed choreographers.
Ms. Dori is the proud Mom of three, her son, Korbin completed 10 years of dance and is now pursuing his Eagle Scout ranking as well as pursuing his interest in Art. Her daughter, Karlie, has completed her 9th year of dance this year with a 2 years of top place finishes in competition. Karlie also has a love for gymnastics.
